Give the word of God priority in your life

January 1, 2017

The gifts inside of you will make room for you (Proverbs 18:16). As we all take time, time to self-reflect and evaluate your walk with God and see where you’re currently at, time to search your heart and set yourself some goals.

Ask yourself, what are you passionate about, are you passionate for Jesus? He is certainly passionate for you. There’s a work God has for you. There is so much more to the Christian life than Sunday church, conferences and events. God wants to unveil the God given destiny (Jeremiah 29:11), which was imprinted in your heart when He formed you (Jeremiah 1:5). There is a difference God wants to make in this world, using you. No matter how small or great – Our roles together can make the biggest difference.

Whether you are studying, a full-time mum, working a 9-5, looking for work or seeking the will of God, let’s do it all walking hand in hand with God.

We have a choice, we can choose whether we want to pursue the things of God. Whether we want to keep Him number one in our lives. Let’s pursue God. We all know so well Jeremiah 29:11 but do we read it in context? The following verses 12-13 says “Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” There is a condition to the promise of verse 11. God wants us to pursue Him!!

Sadly, I have known people on my journey who took Gods promise for granted, believing things would come to them and God would take them to these ‘higher places’. However, they never really sought God and now are no longer walking with God. I chose to seek God, pursue Him over years, during times of loneliness, wilderness and times of hardship because I knew that no matter what I was going through He was faithful and would see me through! (2 Tim 1:13) Thankfully, I can now look back and see where God has taken me from. As a young girl, with no family, a point in life where I had no money for rent and food, to living a successful life with God, now married and a proud mum of a beautiful little baby. It’s not about what you’ve got, but who you’ve got and for as long as I have Jesus, nothing can stop me from pursuing the things of God.

Therefore, this brings me on the whole, New Year, new me. Every year, once a year. Everyone makes resolutions that we can’t keep. Face it, the majority of these ‘resolutions’ are broken by the 2nd, 3rd day. Ultimately, we’re destined to fail because the resolutions are set on ‘I’. “I will quit smoking, I will go to the gym every day, I, I, I”

When we’re looking to ourselves, or depending on our own strength it’ll be a struggle and strive. Jeremiah said very bluntly in Chapter 17:5 “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength. Whose heart departs from the Lord” Rather I like to set a list of goals, prayer, and vision and believe for miracles.

I have done so for the last 5 years and have a wealth of testimonies and breakthrough.

Start now, getting vision for 2017 rather than vision in 2017

My challenge to you is to have your pursuit for God at the top of your list and to really, study, read and absorb His word. Our pursuits of passion for the Lord will open doors (Luke 11:9-10). Ask God for vision for your life and get in to the word. As you read and meditate He will begin to reveal His will to you, as Romans 12:2 says that the renewing of your mind (that comes from reading the word, will enable you to discern the will of God, concerning all areas of your life.
